So, how’ve you been? It’s been awhile.
I used to have a record album —- oh sorry I should explain, record albums were these flat black disks (kind of like a plastic pizza with circles on it that somehow had music in them — I don’t really know how) . The lines were music and it would play on a “record player”. A machine that made the disk go in circles and the music came out. It was magical but also normal at the time. Anyhow I digress.
I used to have a record album by Roger Miller called DEAR FOLKS, SORRY I HAVEN’T WRITTEN LATELY. I bought it because I saw Roger Miller on a TV show and he was promoting the album as a return since he literally hadn’t done anything for some time. He caught my attention with his story. I love a good story. Promotion and good stories work.
I didn’t know Roger Miller at all. I was a clued out teen who didn’t know what he was missing. Roger Miller had been around for decades and had hit records like the classic King of the Road, Dang Me, and Can’t Roller-skate With a Buffalo Herd (yes, really, a classic of another kind) .
So, I bought the album and it had among other things a song from Disney’s animated Robin Hood which featured only whistling and other vocal sounds snd then there was a song about jumping out of a plane. So, it was a quirky fun album and I don’t know if it sold but I liked it. I was glad Roger had come back and written. I enjoyed it being part of my days.
So, sorry I haven’t written lately. But I’m back and glad to be. Hope you’re glad to be here too. Even if it’s not a record album.
There are times when you get out of practice at something. You get busy, practices get disrupted or life happens and you don’t get done what you hoped to get done. So then do you start again, do you try?
YES! And yes, again and again. Life is full of starts and stops.
Sometimes we make the wise decision to stop and so we do. Sometimes that’s the way to go. Stop. Done. That’s all for that. Sometimes if we don’t stop one thing we can’t go on to the better thing.
Other times we stop and it’s not a decision straight up but life and stuff and so we go back. Again. Let’s go there again. It’s the right thing to do.
Don’t ever hesitate to try again. Stuff happens and you get disrupted. We’ve all experienced and are still experiencing disruption from pandemic days. And there’s so many other things that mess us up. Some of us are constantly finding ways to mess up! Join the club.
But, don’t be afraid to go back. Get back in the game (or whatever it is) and give it your best. We need what you create. We need the ministry you bring to the world in Jesus’ name. We need what you deliver that no one else can.
Dear Friends, come on back again and again. We missed you and we’re glad you’re here. Let’s move on from here and see what God’s got in store.
