Express Your Holy Imagination

Each and every one of us is a unique creation. No one else is just like you. Not even if you have a twin. You are a unique creation of God.

Okay, you may not be sure you believe in God. That’s okay, He believes in you! [HT to Richard Harris’ monk character in THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, check it out, cool flick] He made you unique and creative in your own way.And as unique as you are you have a call on your life.

You may be extroverted, introverted, flamboyant, disciplined, unbridled, loud, quiet, logical, emotional, mathematical, rhythmic, shy or expressive in your creativity. Maybe you aren’t even sure what YOUR way is.

As a unique creation, we each bring a unique creativity to the world and to our self-expression and our leadership. And if we are Christians, followers of Jesus, disciples of Jesus then we have a call on our lives to make disciples. See Matthew 28:18-20 below.

Jesus came to them and said,  “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This statement, referred to as the Great Commission wasn’t given to pastors or priests or ministry leaders or Sunday school teachers. It was given to followers of Jesus, Christians, disciples of Jesus.

See the whole “teach them to obey everything I have commanded you” part? That includes the call to make disciples. It’s an unending process. It’s our responsibility to be disciples who make disciples and they will make more disciples and so on and so on.

And as people made in the creative image of God we are given gifts, talents, ideas, energy, creativity and innovations that we can use in our pursuit of this goal of disciplemaking.

Holy Imagination is about using our God-given creativity, uniqueness, leadership, and the Spirit of God to make disciples who make disciples.
